Future Laboratory,Tsinghua University held the Selfie For 50+ workshop to exchange and learn about design research on aging with experts from various fields in academia and industry. The workshop consisted of four sessions: Mobile photo studio, Keynote speech, Poster presentation and Discussion. This workshop is one of the Aging Experience series from Research Center for Aging User Experience and Service System Design(AeX).
In the Mobile Photo Studio session, the team invited 7 senior citizens from Beijing to share their experience of taking photos and the social & electronic applications with us. A professional photographer was on hand to take satisfactory portraits of each senior citizen.
Afterwards, scholars from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Normal University, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Hongik University, Korea National University, Hanyang University University, Okayama Prefectural University, and University of Sydney delivered keynote speeches and shared their design research on portraits of the elderly. The aging design research group had an in-depth discussion with the scholars and experts through research posters.
The event ended with a design research workshop on aging services. Led by Dr. Callum Parker and Dr. SoojeongYoo from the University of Sydney. The experts and scholars randomly divided into three groups for brainstorm and discussions of difficulties faced in smart living and gerontological design research for senior citizens.
This workshop deepened the understanding of each other's research areas and laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. In the next step, AeX center will hold more exchange activities to broaden the research directions and advance the research depth. The research results will be transformed into products that are helpful to the elderly and improve their happiness in life.
