Li Wei is a professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Textile and Fashion Design in Academy of Arts & Design in Tsinghua University, visiting scholar at École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, vice president of the Chinese Clothing Culture Research Association, chairman of the China Fashion Color Patchwork Committee, deputy director of Fashion Styling Professional Committee in China Film Art Direction Academy and deputy director of the Fashion Art Professional Committee in China Textile Engineering Society.

She is a scholar, artist, and designer. She has published a series of monographs, such as Study on Peking Opera Costume Making Techniques and Embroiderers, and she has published a lot of papers in core journals such as Art & Design. Since 1995, she has held many solo exhibitions and participated in important group exhibitions in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and other countries all over the world. Her works are collected by well-known museums and art galleries, such as Victoria and Albert Museum in Britain, the National Art Museum of China, and China National Silk Museum. She has won a number of major domestic and international professional awards, including the gold prize of the 10th National Art Exhibition (the highest national visual art honor), the gold prize of ‘From Lausanne to Beijing’ the 6th International Fiber Art Exhibition (the highest international fiber art award), the laurel award of Beijing International Design Week Annual Designer, the bronze award of Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics for costume design, etc. Li Wei is also one of the Chinese ‘Top Ten Fashion Designers’. She has released Xiuniang · Li Wei Haute Couture Fashion Show, Nanmingjibei: Li Brocade Intangible Cultural Heritage Fashion Show, and Jinsehuanian: SAINTJOY ·Li Wei Song Brocade Fashion Show and other personal fashion shows.
